Discussion

This page is dedicated to discussion about the network. On here you will find questions that we will post up – and we hope you respond and interact with the discussion!

So, first question! What would you like from an artist network?

Responses

  1. I was an enthusiastic member of Creative Valley group. It ran out of money, and then steam soon after that. Hope UCAN (clever naming) lasts the course and grows.
Like all artists, I need publicity, people to know I exist and what i do.
Some companionship in what can be a lonely industry. I work by my self, mainly in public parks and get very little reaction from the passing public. Is it that they don’t seem to know how to approach these wierd artistic types, or are they just put off by the chain saw??

    • Hi John
Many thanks for your interest and your information. we hope that you will make it to our event on the 19th, but if not, please now find a copy of our consultation questionnaire on the site.
We look forward to hearing more from you. Charlotte

  2. Welcome, John! Certainly we hope to build sustainability into UCAN from the beginning so that it does last the course. Thanks for your suggestions. It’s a shame you don’t get much reaction, but as you say, perhaps the chainsaw scares them off.

  3. I would like to see links developed with Exhibition opportunities further afield, e.g. Manchester, Leeds, Bradford for a start.
I too was a member of Creative Valley, which generated a lot of enthusiasm at the time but did lose impetus along with funding.
I really appreciate the work you are doing which provides opportunities for Artists to develop professionally, without having to ‘go it alone’

    • Welcome, Jude. I agree very much with your suggestion about exhibition opportunities. I also very much hope that UCAN will provide opportunities for professional development and general social/networking etc. Thanks for dropping by!

  4. Having an exhibition at Hebden Bridge Festival Gallery Space on Albert St. Private view on Friday 19th August All welcome
